Victoria Beckham has had a few awesome days recently, and her OOTD's have been nothing but chic. She looked impeccable at her SS19 show in a AW18 tan blazer from her collection, nude top and black split hem trousers. VB gave us some serious blazer envy and caused me to rush online and see where I could get my hands on a similar look. But, it was her outfit today that caused me to stop and think about what I would be wearing this winter. I spied her latest look on her insta stories, where she talked through her black belted blazer with stirrup leggings OOTD for her trunk show appointments today. I mean Victoria Beckham, the queen of chic, sophistication and minimalism is wearing LEGGINGS. Surely that gives all of us the green light to slip into a pair pf comfy stretchy leggings too?
Over the past few months I've noticed that wearing leggings for non-workout purposes is becoming more mainstream again. We're not talking about circa 2005 leggings looks - the leggings of the season are being worn in a more formal, dressed up capacity. When leggings are being worn by celebs and inluencers on the FROW, for events, nights out or going about on a day to day basis, you know it's safe to slide into some yourself. Some of my favourite looks include Kate Bosworth's oversized printed tee with over the knee boots, Leandra Medine Cohen from ManRepeller's tweed jacket and Adidas Gazelle combo and Rosie Huntington Whiteley's all black blazer and lace up ankle boot look. If you're looking for a more casual take on the trend, Gigi Hadid serves up some great leggings and trainers looks, and always manages to make the combo not stray too far into the athleisure realm.
We're also seeing different detailing on the leggings, from zippers, stirrups, lace ups, and different fabrications like leather and suede. Another key update is leggings worn under skirts and dresses - which plays a huge part in the layering trend which has been around for a couple seasons now, and sees no sign of dying down. Leggings are the perfect option for winter, where layering is so easy to execute. Because of the fitted nature of leggings, it allows you play with the oversized silhouette, with knits, blazers, jackets and coats, not to mention the hottest boot trend - the slouch boot. I'll definitely be wearing my leggings with an oversized v neck knitted jumper, slouchy knee high boots, and borg lined aviator jacket most likely to be an all black outfit.
My go to legging shop is most definitely Zara. Every season they have a few standard elastic waist options available, but they also have some more up-styled options and leggings in suede, leather looks and different printed styles. I've picked out a few of my favourite styles from Zara which are all linked below.
